Postgraduate MSc Courses in GIS

Kingston Centre for GIS offers the following postgraduate MSc courses:
MSc Applied Gographical Information Systems
This course is designed for those wishing to develop a knowledge and understanding of the major concepts and application of GIS. It is delivered in mixed-mode (i.e. part of it is delivered in distance learning mode and part classroom based) and is based around 5 core GIS modules. A further 10 optional modules provide tremendous flexibility for you to build a course appropriate to your needs and interests. The course is suitable for those who have first degrees in geography, environmental science, computer science or a related discipline and who wish to develop GIS expertise. It is also suitable for those who have some work-related experience in GIS or a related discipline and who are looking to update their skills or retrain. It is tailored to those who wish to study core GIS alongside modules in the geographical, environmental or earth sciences.

NEW for 2008: MSc Geographical Information Systems and Science
This course is designed principally for those who wish to develop their qualifications in GI Systems and Science but who cannot attend a conventional classroom based course. The course provides an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles of handling and analysing geographical information (GI Science) with the technical proficiency in being able to apply techniques in professional software (GI Systems). Its focus is more tailored to those who wish to study GIS without the 'Applied' component. The course is scheduled to begin in September 2008 (subject to validation) and is likely to be popular as more people are keen to take distance learning courses. As with our other MSc, the course is suitable for those who have some work-related experience in GIS or a related discipline and who are looking to update their skills or retrain as well as graduates of related disciplines looking to acquire job-related qualifications in GISS.
