Journal of Maps
The Journal of Maps is a new multi-disciplinary online, electronic, journal that has been established by members of the Centre for GIS. The journal provides a forum for researchers from any discipline to publish maps electronically. The publication of large format maps in academic journals is uncommon, yet there are many researchers with spatial data wishing to publish material to accompany research articles.
GIS is central to many researchers for the collection, storage and analysis of spatial data. The Centre for GIS has developed this new initiative as a central repository for all spatial disciplines, as well as promoting the core principles of cartography.
The journal employs full, open, peer review to establish the quality of material submitted. As all maps are freely available, a modest processing fee is charged in order to cover the journal's running costs. The journal is an unregistered charity in the United Kingdom.
